Maths
Intent
At Woodhouse Community Primary School, we intend to inspire and ignite the curiosity of our pupils; we ensure mathematics at our school teaches pupils how to make sense of the world around them through developing their ability to calculate, reason and problem solve. We intend that pupils will understand relationships and patterns in both number and space in their everyday lives. Through their growing knowledge and understanding, pupils learn to appreciate the contribution made by many cultures to the development and application of mathematics. We will enable pupils to make connections and use mathematical skills to support their everyday life, preparing them for future employment. At Woodhouse Community Primary School, we aim to provide a high-quality mathematics education that builds a foundation for understanding the world, an appreciation for the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject. Pupils will become confident in fluency, problem and reasoning through a range of practical real-life experiences/activities.
