History at Woodhouse Community Primary School
At Woodhouse Community Primary School, we strive to ensure pupils gain coherent and chronological knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We intend that our pupils will foster interest and enjoyment in learning about times, societies and events gone by. We intend to ignite a spark of curiosity in our pupils that will equip them with the drive and skills to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh up evidence and develop perspective and judgement. We intend to provide pupils with the skills and experience to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. We aim to inspire confident historians who understand the chronological order of events that have happened throughout time as well as use a range of historic vocabulary competently. At Woodhouse Community Primary School, our pupils will have experiences of expert visitors into school as well as educational visits to enhance the authenticity of their historical learning.
