At Woodhouse Community Primary School we intend to inspire and ignite the curiosity of our pupils; enabling them to explore and experience a high-quality Art and Design education that engages, inspires and challenges pupils. We will support them in learning and discovering some of the highest forms of human creativity and providing a curriculum that equips them with knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. We aim to develop ‘critical thinkers’ who gain a rigorous understanding of Art and Design. At Woodhouse Community Primary School our pupils will develop a knowledge and understanding of how Art and Design both reflect and shape our history; as well as contribute to culture, creativity and the wealth of our nation.
At Woodhouse Community Primary School we aim to implement learning through a range of high quality, exciting but always purposeful learning experiences. We deliver learning in a variety of ways to ensure access for all of our pupils. Experiences will vary from practical exploration to theoretical knowledge based around key artists in each year group. The artists used will have a range of skills from architects, designers, sculptures and painters to ensure children receive a sequential and well rounded understanding of the huge variety of Art and Design skills; ensuring learning is progressive and pupils build upon previous knowledge and skills.
