During Spring term, Year 2 have been looking at Everyday Materials in science, and testing the properties of them and their suitability. In Geography, we have learnt the names of the World’s continents and oceans, then focusing on hot countries (Kenya, Africa) and cold countries (Antarctica, Arctic Region). We will be looking at Explorers in History this half term, focusing on those who have traveled to Antarctica. In RE, the children will be looking at how and why Christians celebrate Easter, and in DT the children will be designing and making a moving vehicle.
This term, in Year 2, the topic is Animals. The children will be learning about different animals. In science, the children will be exploring life cycles, offspring and basic needs. They will also be looking at a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of this. Within music, the children will be learning a range of animal songs and rhymes; In literacy the children will be reading Roald Dahl’s The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. At some point, this half term, the children will take a trip to Hall Hill Farm to put their knowledge of animals into practice.
